JOGGER RESCUES ELDERLY DOG FROM CANAL

An heroic jogger has saved an elderly dog from drowning in Greater Manchester’s Radcliffe Canal.

The woman was shocked to see the terrified terrier shaking and struggling in the water, so she stopped to scoop her out.

After wrapping the cold dog in her hoodie to keep her warm, the jogger took her home and contacted the RSPCA.

Called Nelly, the terrier was taken to the charity’s Greater Manchester Animal Hospital, where she was found to have a stomach tumour, and will undergo surgery once she’s recovered from her ordeal.
