Jargon, busted
Scratching your head over cyclonic suction and sensory technology? These jargon busters are here to help.
Anti-hair wrap This technology stops hair from getting tangled around the brush roll, which affects suction and movability – a great idea if you have long-haired pets.
Bagless cleaning This means the dirt is collected into a canister as opposed to a vacuum bag. It makes emptying the vacuum easy as you don’t need to search around or pay for the right type of vacuum bags.
Cyclonic suction Clever, multi-cyclonic technology that helps to separate dust and dirt so more dust can be captured, leaving you with a cleaner home.
HEPA filter This does a similar job to the cyclonic suction in that it removes dust, pollen, mould spores and pet dander from the air. If you’re prone to allergies, then a vacuum that features a HEPA filter is a must.
Sensory technology Some vacuums are able to sense the floor type and adjust the suction power accordingly; this also helps to save energy for a greener option.
Crevice tool This is designed to slot into tight gaps so it can clean right into the corners of your home without extra effort.
