How can I stop condensation forming on my new windows? This is caused by excess moisture in the room and it’s easily solved by having the right ventilation. By doing this, you will allow moisture-laden air to escape and cool, and dry air to enter. Top tips include opening the bathroom window for a few minutes after a bath or shower and positioning the radiator or heated towel rail under the window where possible. Installing an extractor fan can also help. The same goes for the kitchen. In bedrooms and living spaces, try to open the windows at least once during the day for a short time.

What’s the best glazing for a conservatory? Double glazing will keep it comfortable all year round and Low-E glass will prevent heat loss. South- or west-facing rooms should ideally use solar controlled glass such as body-tinted glazing that absorbs heat from the sun or metallic-coated products, which reflect the sun’s rays, preventing an overheated room.

How can I keep roof windows clean? Ask for self-cleaning glass, which reduces the build-up of dirt thanks to a clever coating on the outer surface. It reacts with sunlight to break down and loosen dirt, prevents water droplets forming when it rains and dries quickly without staining.
