Surcare sensitive nonbio laundry liquid, £5.25, Sainsbury’s
Approved by Allergy UK and containing no fragrances, dyes or enzymes, this detergent caused no irritation to the skin at all, so it would be ideal for those with little ones or sensitive skin. With virtually no scent, it’s a fuss-free laundry detergent that’s gentle on fabrics while still cleaning them effectively and protecting them from fading, even on cool washes. You only need 35ml per wash so a little goes a long way, and it’s kind to your purse!
Neroli laundry detergent, £8.95, KINN Living
For those who prefer a light, delicate scent on their bedding and clothes, KINN’s Neroli detergent leaves fabrics feeling super-soft without leaving an overpowering perfume. Kind to the skin, the plant-based formula is fully biodegradable and is gentle enough to be used for the whole family’s laundry. Our white wash came out sparkling, and the recyclable packaging features easy-to-read instructions for differing wash sizes and levels of water softness.
Eco-strips laundry detergent, £13.99, Tru Earth
These eco laundry strips take up minimal cupboard space and are easy to use – tear the strip into pieces and add to your detergent dispenser, as you would a liquid version. In terms of scent, you can choose from Fresh Linen or Fragrance Free. The latter is ideal for those with sensitive skin as it cleans clothes effectively without a noticeable scent. Although these strips are the most expensive option, they tick the zerowaste box.
Ecozone soap nuts, £5.99, Lakeland
Used for thousands of years as a natural washing detergent, these sustainably sourced nuts are packed with natural surfactants that clean and freshen your clothes. Hypoallergenic and biodegradeable, simply zip the nuts in the cotton bag included and pop them in the drum with your laundry. Free from chemicals and scent-free, the nuts shouldn’t irritate sensitive skin while they tackle dirt on your clothes and keep colours brighter for
