STEP INSIDE...
WHO LIVES HERE? Karen Griggs, 50, owner of a holiday let business (oldforgeyork.com), my husband, Adam, our daughter, Chloe, 22, son, Freddie, 17, our dogs, Bobbi and Boris, and our 12 hens, known as The Barbaras.
WHAT WAS UPDATED? We installed a new kitchen with an improved layout in our fourbedroom Victorian cottage.
WHY THE CHANGE? It was a difficult space with lots of wall cabinets and seven doors leading off it, so it felt busy and cramped.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE? It took six weeks of actual work, with stops and starts in between. Repairing and lining the chimney was a huge job as the oil-fired Esse range cooker had to be carefully removed by an expert and put back. There was also a lot of bespoke joinery and I was fussy about who I used so there was a bit of a wait for it.
