Choose the right radiator for your room

-

Not sure where to start when it comes to choosing a radiator for certain rooms in the house? John Lawless, Content Marketing Manager at BestHeating, is here to help.

‘In kitchens and bathrooms, vertical radiators and tall towel rails can help to maximise floor and wall space, leaving more room for all your other essentials. In the kitchen, avoid placing a radiator next to a fridge or a freezer, as they both get rid of their residual heat through a condenser at the back of the appliance.

A hallway radiator is probably heating a much larger area than you may think, with open staircases and long spaces requiring a little more heat output than a dining or living room. So, consider a larger radiator to combat this. Heat may escape through doors, so position it away from these areas to minimise heat loss and be sure not to block the radiator with a large piece of furniture.

In the bedroom and living room, you will probably find that the best place for a radiator is under the window because the space is unlikely to be able to accommodate any large pieces of furniture like your sofa, wardrobe or bed. A vertical radiator will give you more room for additional furniture, but then a horizontal version will work just as well if it’s placed under a window.’
