Wren Kitchens has transformed our day-to-day lives
Actor and TV personality Kieron Richardson and his husband Carl turned to Wren Kitchens to create a family-friendly space that has plenty of room for entertaining too

STEP ONE When Hollyoaks actor and TV personality, Kieron Richardson, and his husband Carl, moved into their new home in Manchester, renovating the kitchen was top of their list. With two young children, the couple wanted to maximise the space available in the already-extended kitchen, so the whole family could enjoy the room together.
After admiring TV presenter Rylan’s Wren kitchen on Gogglebox, the couple looked to
the kitchen specialists to create their very own dream space.
From the moment they walked into their local showroom they knew Wren Kitchens had the wow factor they were looking for.
‘We found the quality and the look we were after,’ says Carl. ‘Everything that Wren does is a cut above the rest.’
The couple chose a sleek, streamlined design from the contemporary Milano range and, on the suggestion of Wren Designer, Chloe, picked out cupboards and drawers in Sea Foam Gloss. Kieron wasn’t sure at first, but seeing the finished results, he’s glad he took the designer’s expert advice. ‘It looks incredible,’ he smiles.
STEP TWO With two young children, storage was a top priority for the couple’s design, and a large island – complete with handleless cupboards underneath – has made a big impact on day-to-day family life. ‘I’ve always wanted an island,’ says Kieron. ‘Having kids, you want to bake, you want to get creative and that’s what we use the island for.’
Thanks to new-found space created through Wren’s clever reconfiguration, there’s plenty of room for the little ones to play independently too, keeping everyone happy. ‘While we’re eating our breakfast, they can play, and we’ve still got eyes on them,’ Kieron explains.
Having used NEFF appliances before, Kieron and Carl were adamant that their new kitchen would include the brand’s Slide&Hide ovens, and they were delighted that Wren could accommodate their wish list item. They love the ovens’ stylish streamlined finish and it was the durable, wipe-clean surfaces that sealed the deal.
STEP THREE A highlight of the whole process was having the kitchen fitted. ‘Just to see it being unboxed was magical,’ says Kieron. ‘It was really exciting to see it progress day to day.’ The couple have enjoyed sharing their new kitchen with family and friends who, they say, love the design as much as they do. Both
Kieron’s mum and their next-door neighbours were so impressed that they’ve decided to go for a Wren kitchen too!
Now, with plenty of space to cook, entertain and play, the family are more excited than ever for the festive celebrations. ‘We can’t wait for Christmas this year,’ says Kieron. ‘Ordinarily we’d go out, and even though we’ve spent so much time at home over the last year, we can’t wait to spend Christmas in our new kitchen.’
