Maple gingerbread men
YOU WILL NEED
350g plain flour 2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 175g maple sugar 125g unsalted butter, softened 1 egg 4 tbsp pure Canadian maple syrup
DIRECTIONS
Sieve flour into a bowl, add spices and bicarbonate of soda.
Q Stir in the maple sugar and the butter and mix. Q In a separate bowl, beat the egg and maple syrup together, then add to the mixture.
Bring the mixture together with your hands and wrap in cling film.
Q Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Q Pre-heat oven to 160°C/Fan 140°C/Gas Mark 3. Q Roll out the mixture on a lightly floured surface to around 1cm thick and cut into shapes.
Q Bake for 10-12 minutes.
Q Leave to cool on a rack and decorate.
