Weighing scale Bicarbonate of soda Citric acid Cornflour Epsom salts Sieve Mixing bowl and spoon Sunflower or coconut oil Essential oil Soap colouring Small bowl Pretty glass jar with lid Dried flower petals

1 Begin by measuring the dry ingredients – you will need 200g bicarbonate of soda, 100g citric acid, 50g cornflower, 50g Epsom salts. Sieve them together into a large mixing bowl. In a separate smaller bowl, mix the wet ingredients: 4 tbsp sunflower or coconut oil, 20 drops of rose-scented oil and a few drops of pink colouring. Slowly add the wet ingredients, a little at a time, to the dry, stirring well.

2 Wash a glass jar in hot soapy water and then dry thoroughly. Place a tbsp of dried flowers into the bottom of your jar and shake the jar lightly to level them out. Fill the jar with the salts mixture, pushing it down gently into the bottom of the jar as you fill.

3 To finish, sprinkle a pinch of pretty petals on top of the jar. Close the jar to keep it airtight until the salts need to be used. You could also tie a pretty ribbon and a gift tag around the neck of the jar. For an extra touch, why not tie a vintage spoon or a small scoop to the jar as well? To use, simply scoop a spoonful of the mix under a warm bath tap and relax.
