HOW TO measure up

-

Know your drop from your width with these curtain-measuring tips from Kate Duckworth, Senior Digital Marketing Manager at Swift Direct Blinds

■ To get the width of your curtains, measure the full length of your track or pole, not just the window itself.

■ Some tracks have a central overlap. If so, measure it separately and add it to your end-to-end measurement.

■ You don’t need to take any decorative end pieces on poles

into consideration when measuring, just the total pole width

that your curtains will be covering.

■ For pencil pleat or pinch pleat curtains, measure from the top of the track or the small eye on the ring of the pole to 1.5cm above the floor. This is your finished hem-to-hem drop.

■ For eyelet curtains, many brands, including Swift Direct Blinds, will add the fabric needed for the eyelets, but check before you buy.
