her interior preferences, and develop the confidence she needed to carry out her ideas. ‘One of our first projects was our bedroom – I painted it a dark, deep blue, which we love, so we were confident we’d like another blue room,’ she says. ‘I’d been testing various blue paints on the living room wall for weeks, if not months, and, in the end, decided on my initial choice – sometimes you just need to persuade yourself!’

By far the biggest challenge for the couple, though, was installing new radiators, which they decided to do DIY-style. ‘It wasn’t our first rodeo with radiators, but we really didn’t have a good time with the three we moved or replaced,’ Tiffany explains. ‘Adam is really good with that kind of DIY, thankfully, and much more patient than I am. We had to make a few emergency trips to Screwfix, though, and so I sometimes joke that the living room was once also a pool.’

THE FINAL DETAILS

To complete the look, Tiffany wanted to reinstate period features, add tons of texture, and lots of nods to her French heritage, too.

‘I’d say my style is pretty classic,’ she says. ‘We added some Victorian décor back into the house, mainly with the ceiling roses, picture rails and a rich colour scheme. I wanted to add some natural elements – especially rattan and jute – for a fresh look and feel, and everything else is a mix of pieces we like, memories of places we’ve been and family

memorabilia. I definitely wanted to bring some of my French influence in as well, with nods here and there in the décor.’

The result is a warm and characterful room that Tiffany and Adam – not forgetting cats Welly and Picasso – can feel truly at home in. ‘It’s been so wonderful seeing our plans come to life and then the pleasure of enjoying a cosy yet cheerful room. It’s also made me really proud of our vision and what we can accomplish,’ Tiffany says. ‘It has made me want to take on other projects, for sure, though after a well-earned break!’
