How have our challengers fared?
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of #hack1000miles, we asked you to update us on your progress...
Bettina Yockney has taken the #hack1000miles challenge to the other side of the world — she recently signed up in New Zealand! Elaine Nicholl’s Ozz had a colic setback, but they plan to start totting up the miles very soon. Helen Varley is another recent new recruit. Pippa Hone is only four and she’s sharing the miles between her own Shetland and her mother Vicky’s pony.
Sally Hudson and Vicky reset their counter in January and have been limited by the weather. They’re looking forward to their first fun ride in April.
Our #hack1000miles ambassador Tracey Sawyer has motored through the finish flags — and started again. She says she loves nothing more than getting out and supporting other riders who want to hack. Other finishers include Karen Polmear and Ann Smith. Congratulations from Your Horse HQ to you all on your journey. Keep up the good work — you will get there!
Sarah Johnson hacks Rhino and says our Hack 1000 miles Facebook group is the nicest group of people on the internet.
A few light, warm evenings is the boost Jess Bright and Ziggy need to get to the finish line.
Sophie Joy says her New Forest Pony, Pete, is the trimmest and fittest he’s ever been.
Katherine Ward and Maggie are nearly three-quarters of the way there.
Anne-Marie Cronin is almost halfway to the first 100-mile marker on Badger. She enjoys taking her daughter Emma too.
Stephanie Davies says she didn’t even dare canter her horse Bro until they started their journey to #hack1000miles!
Georgina Bowe’s veteran mare, Fliss, is proving age is no barrier as she clocks up more miles.
Mia Mills and Honey hack bitless and bareback.
Emma Platt is just away from the starting post.
Sarah Mumby and Siouxie have hacked on beaches, to the pub and explored plenty of forestry.
Your Horse editor, Aimi Clark, is exploring a new part of the English countryside with her veteran ex-racehorse Bee.
Samantha Rye and Chino have the halfway point in their sights.
Katie Ward is having a lot of fun aboard her 23-year-old Wig Wam (pictured far right with Crunchie and Frank).
Zoe Hockley and her friend Lotte Smith have been hacking together.
Paula Needham’s Charlie is easy to spot as they cover the miles
Louise Horwood and Spearmint are making great progress — even taking a donkey and dogs with them too!
Joanna Holland is a #hack1000miles ambassador and, when Your Horse went to press, she was in touching distance of the finish line.
Claire Taylor says she and Pie have gone from Nervous Nellies to Spooking Sallys and they are now Hacking Heroes.
Ema Bayliss says her confidence is building all the time — and she can’t wait for summer hacking on her steed.
Catherine Boyd earns her miles on the moor.
All that snow was no barrier for Kim Wolstencroft!
Leonie Chester-Lees and Leo are making great progress.
