Your Horse (UK) - - Better Riding -

Warm up your horse by walk­ing, trot­ting and can­ter­ing for 10 min­utes on both reins around the whole of the arena. Then, once you are both warmed up and your horse is alert and lis­ten­ing to you: l1 In a work­ing pace, walk a fig­ure of eight around the poles (b), as shown in the di­a­gram (right). l2 Keep your hands low and your reins sym­met­ri­cal, al­low­ing your horse to bend his body as you ride the fig­ure of eight. l3 Re­peat on the other rein. Do this ex­er­cise for five min­utes be­fore mov­ing on to ex­er­cise two.
