ATTACHING THE SYSTEM

-

The big blue button wireless transmitter unit (this is what the rider presses at the start and finish of every ride) is contained in a leather pommel pack with a detachable LED indicator system. This is positioned on the pommel of your saddle and is secured using two straps that attach to the saddle’s D-rings. It’s important this sits correctly so that you can easily press the blue button while you’re riding. The unit is further secured in place via tensioners, which are leather feet that you thread through your stirrup leathers and velcro to the pommel pack. Your weight in the stirrups helps to hold the unit in place. I did struggle a little with the feet and I kept getting them on upside down. Plus, the rubber keeper that stops the feet sliding up the stirrup leather was difficult to get onto the leather, though it’s meant to be a snug fit to do its job. Once I’d sussed it out, it was fine. Everything else is pretty straightforward — the reins are labelled left and right and you plug these into the unit on the pommel so that they can record the data while you’re riding.
