4 JUST REWARDS
Patience is so important when introducing something new — and for training horses in general. Rewarding and making a fuss of your horse when he’s done something really well will instil positive feelings around jumping. When things don’t go to plan, take a moment to examine what you’re doing and how you are doing it. More often than not, it will be down to something you’re doing that’s causing confusion. Are your aids and position in the saddle helping your horse or confusing him? Enlist the help of an experienced trainer who’ll give you confidence and feedback to keep you on the right track.
