Young horses tire eas­ily, both phys­i­cally and men­tally, so don’t overdo it. Push­ing a young horse too soon can dam­age his con­fi­dence, so be mind­ful of this when train­ing. Jump­ing your horse re­quires dif­fer­ent mus­cle groups to those used on the flat, so al­low your horse time to both warm up cor­rectly and cool down. Keep your jump­ing ses­sions short and build up grad­u­ally.
