GOING IN CIRCLES

-

“Now let’s change this up a little,” says Ben. “I want the horse to move all the way around me in a full circle. His hindlegs move in a big arc, stepping over as he goes. His head stays with me in the middle of the circle and his front legs don’t travel very far.” During this exercise, resist the temptation to move too far yourself — your horse needs to do the moving, while you control his speed and direction. The whip, used gently on his inside hind again, is the signal for your horse to move.
