Pool House has an on-site climatecontrolled pharmacy and laboratory. This means that common things like worm egg counts, examining smears of bacteria, cultures and sensitivity tests for different antibiotics can be done in-house promptly. Haematology means blood tests can be run, and joint fluid and fluid from the abdomen (in the case of peritonitis) can be assessed. Nurses and interns do most of the lab work, but vets sometimes come in as well, especially if they’re faced with an emergency case during the night.
