A method that suits all
QWhat type of horse would benefit from bodywork? Natalia Clarke, Moreton Morrell Mary says... All of them! I work on top competition horses right through to happy hackers and I treat every horse the same. Each individual horse has their own natural restrictions and asymmetry. When you also consider the everyday restrictions associated with the domesticated horse — stabling, riding, teeth, feet, tack, rider asymmetry and others — it can all add up. Horses are prey animals, designed to hide any pain or tension, and sometimes the more stoic horse can take a few sessions to open up and release. I once had a horse who would hide behind his haynet each time he yawned so we couldn’t see him release his tension. Owners often tell me how soft their horse feels afterwards. Emotionally the horse can change too, and I often see a new partnership develop between horse and owner, which is wonderful to see.
