ASH WAL­LACE — Team GB’s lead physio for ath­lete health. Julie met Ash and r eceived her first treat­ment at the Luh­mühlen CCI4* this year. “She sa ys she will ne ver get me per­fect, but she can get the mus­cles w ork­ing. It’s a weird sen­sa­tion, but each time she treats me, I can start to feel bits in m y feet that I haven’t felt for years.” PROF ROBERT BOR —A clin­i­cal and spe­cialis t aviation psy­chol­o­gist, he told Julie “you are a nor­mal per­son with ab­nor­mal prob­lems”. Julie says: “That day I re­alised I wasn’t go­ing mad.” B 12 IN­JEC­TIONS — “Th­ese help peo­ple with nerv e dam­age. It boosts me be­fore a big com­pe­ti­tion.” SLEEP — Julie’s tired­ness is all-con­sum­ing. When she’s go­ing through a par­tic­u­larly dif­fi­cult pe­riod, only r est is re­ju­ve­nat­ing.

CLAIRE MEAL­ING — Julie de­scribes her head girl, who is also an e vent rider, as “my rock. She’s been with me through tough times and never ques­tions any­thing. She’s just stood by me”. HER FAM­ILY — “My Mum, Dad and sis­ter Susie are ev­ery­thing. They’ve never doubted and have al­ways sup­ported me — and I can be an ar­gu­men­ta­tive and ob­nox­ious per­son. A lot of that is frus tra­tion be­cause I’m not able t o do what I want to do.”
