Riding then and now

In 1996, illustrations were de rigueur in the magazine world — something we still do, but not to this extent. The riding section was so big then that having one or two features illustrated (right), rather than photographed, helped to break it up and offer the reader a different perspective. Now our riding features are very trainer or celebrity rider led, tackle specific training techniques and issues, and the photography is detailed and beautiful (below). Riding, particularly overcoming confidence wobbles, is a popular topic. And there’s no sign of it waning.
