Dry­ing horses the 80s way

If your horse got sweaty or wet in 1983, there were no rugs to wick away the mois­ture. In­stead, the an­swer to get­ting him dry and keep­ing him warm was a layer of straw with two sacks draped over it. It’s called thatch­ing, and some peo­ple still do it to­day.
