Your Horse (UK)

Welcome

- Editor, Aimi Clark

IWAS SURPRISED TO f ind out from Spillers (p6) that grassroots competing is only classed as light work when it comes to feeding. All those years I assumed my riding club horse was in medium work (he was always ridden for several hours most days), but it turns out I was wrong. Luckily, he wasn’t the type to become overweight easily, but it just goes to show what a big topic feeding is — and that there’s always something new to learn or rediscover. That’s why Your Horse magazine has brought you this Feed Guide, in time for winter. In these 32 pages we tackle this massive topic head on, narrowing it down to the facts you really do need to know about. If you haven’t recited the feeding rules since your Pony Club days, you have an annual debate over whether to choose hay or haylage, or you’re wondering whether feeding a balancer and/or supplement is just a waste of money, prepare to be enlightened.
