COVID-19 brings equestrian activities to a standstill
In light of the UK government advice given on 16 March regarding the risks to public health presented by coronavirus, the three main equestrian governing bodies — British Dressage (BD), British Showjumping (BS) and British Eventing — have cancelled all competitions. BD and BS say that this will be up to and including 16 April, while British Eventing hasn’t given a time period.
British Riding Clubs is strongly recommending that no riding club activities of any nature should take place up to and including 30 June. It has also cancelled a number of its championships.
These extremely difficult decisions have been taken to support the government’s advice on social distancing and avoid unnecessary travel, while also helping to reduce further pressure on the NHS and the other emergency services that are needed to assist in the safe running of competitions.
