“We recommend to all our riders that they take a backup MP3 on their phone as CDs are notoriously unreliable and easily damaged,” says Kelly. “If the venue starts your music in the wrong place, you can stop and ask them to restart it. And if it’s too quiet, wave your hand and ask them to turn it up — this is your performance, so own it.”
