31% of horse owners have experience­d a horse being injured as a result of using a headcollar. Injuries ranged from rubs and cuts to fractures and fatal injuries. 75% of these injuries occurred when the horse was tied up (in or outside the stable, or in a lorry/trailer while travelling). 15% of people have been injured in a headcollar-related accident.

After fit, safety was ranked as the most important factor for horse owners when choosing a headcollar.

The most shocking result of all is that 167 horse fatalities were reported to have occurred as a result of a headcollar-related incident.*
