Your questions answered
Q i understand the law recently changed regarding car seats, will i need to buy new ones for my grandchildren? R Devin, Hull
Yours says As of March 2017, manufacturers are no longer allowed to introduce new models of backless booster seats (booster cushions) for children shorter than 125cm (4ft 10in) or weighing less than 22kg (3st 6lb). This change does not affect existing models of seats or cushions; it will only apply to new booster cushions, not ones which are already in use and meet existing safety standards. So, parents or grandparents who use existing booster cushions will not be breaking the law if they continue to use them after the rule change, and they will not be required to buy new booster seats to meet the rule change. for more information visit www.childcarseats.org.uk

Q many months ago i had a silly argument with my son and his wife. i have tried to apologise, but they refuse to speak to me or bring the grandchildren to see my husband and me – it’s breaking our hearts. Who can we turn to for help? Name and address supplied
Yours says Lack of contact and things said in the heat of the moment can fan the flames of conflict, but if you can sit down and talk, making sure the grandchildren remain the focus of the discussion, it’s not too late to build bridges.
