Friend’s recommendation changed my life

Judith Glasgow’s experience with Amplifon inspired Soozie Copley to get back to better hearing.

When Judith Glasgow realised her friend was struggling with her hearing, she knew she had to help. A lifetime of tinnitus following a childhood illness and age-related hearing loss had left Soozie Copley feeling frustrated and with a sound “like Niagara Falls” in both ears. When Soozie told her friend about the extent of her problems, and an unsatisfactory test she had taken, Judith suggested she try Amplifon. That conversation, says Soozie, has changed her life. “Judith gave me a wonderful recommendation and the treatment I received was just as amazing as she’d said,” Soozie says. “Now I have the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of hearing aids, I’ve never looked back. “When I first put the hearing aids in it was wonderful. My Audiologist was walking around and looking away when he spoke to me, yet the sound was so sharp and the tinnitus was unnoticeable.” Now on her second set of hearing aids, long-time customer Judith had been unimpressed by other hearing tests previously – so she knew how good the Amplifon service was.

“The difference is brilliant, I remember when I first got them I told my family to watch out because I could hear everything,” says the former teacher. “Without the hearing aids I wouldn’t hear anything in a group, which can be very isolating.”

“Now I have the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of hearing aids, I’ve never looked back.”

Thanks to her positive experience over the last 10 years, Judith has always spread the word about Amplifon and she was keen for Soozie to book an appointment after she admitted her struggles to hear certain consonant sounds were increasing. “I’d have to ask people in shops to repeat themselves,” says Soozie, who spent her career working in theatre. “The Audiologist at Amplifon was marvellous. The test was much more detailed than I’d had before and he allowed me to try lots of different hearing aids until we found the best set for me.”

The test revealed that one of Soozie’s ear canals was narrower than the other, so the aids were fitted to ensure this was taken into account. In fact, two years after having her hearing aids, a follow-up test found there had been no deterioration in her

hearing. She says the aftercare has been second to none and now goes back to her local branch every six months for the aids to be cleaned thoroughly.

“Nothing is ever a problem for them and they’re always so welcoming, which is so rare these days,” she says.

For Judith, hearing aids have ensured she can continue to socialise. Chatting with family or friends has become much easier.

“It’s made a huge difference and if I’ve ever had an issue, Amplifon have always gone the extra mile to resolve it,” she says.

Soozie, too, has urged friends to seek help from Amplifon if they need it. “I do get irritated with people moaning about being hard of hearing – I say well do something about it!”
