DAY ONE
What to do
Animal lovers should make a beeline for the world-famous Jersey Zoo. Established by Gerald Durrell (of My Family and Other Animals fame) its ethos has always been to protect endangered species in the wild, as well as breeding them in captivity. Highlights include tortoises, orangutans and the enigmatic aye-aye lemur. Alternatively, get close to a different type of nature at Jersey Lavender Farm. Open now until the start of October, you can wander nine sweet-smelling acres, as well as enjoying free talks about the plants.
Jersey Zoo tickets £16 adults, £11.50 children. Call 01534 860071 or visit www.durrell.org Jersey Lavender prices vary depending on time of year, starting at £3 adults, under-14s free. Call 01534 742933 or visit www. jerseylavender.co.uk
