Make house­work and gar­den­ing eas­ier by strength­en­ing your arms and shoul­ders.

■ Hold a tin of food or a sim­ple hand weight in each hand and stand with feet hip-width apart, shoul­ders back and down, arms by your sides.

■ Slowly raise your arms out to the side un­til your hands are level with your shoul­ders. Pause at the top and then slowly lower back to your sides. Re­peat ten times.
