You can’t build mus­cle with­out eat­ing pro­tein. As you get older you ac­tu­ally need to eat more pro­tein, but most of us eat less. “Pro­tein helps you build mus­cle but it’s also im­por­tant for keep­ing your im­mune sys­tem healthy and helps your body heal faster from in­jury,” says Julie. “It’s best to in­clude pro­tein in ev­ery meal through­out the day.” Have eggs for break­fast in­stead of toast and jam, a chicken salad or sand­wich for lunch and some fish and veg­eta­bles for din­ner. If you’re veg­e­tar­ian, make sure you eat plenty of beans and pulses and al­ways serve them with a whole­grain such as brown rice to make sure your body gets all the pro­tein you need.
