A right royal surprise

■ Prince Charles becoming 70 this year reminded me of a competition I entered when I was ten, organised by The Children’s Newspaper. We had to copy a letter for Prince Charles in our best handwriting! To my amusement I won a prize, a pen, for my efforts. I wish I could write like that now!

Honour our cheques

■ I wonder how many potential customers are lost by firms who do not offer an alternative to online buying, ie cheques? The old maxim is true ‘make new friends but keep the old, one is silver, the other gold’.

Cooling off period

■ Our recent heatwave reminded me of when I was a professional dancer on tour in Italy. We danced in temperatures of 102 degrees (old money!). When we came off stage we rushed to run our wrists under the cold tap, which was the quickest way to cool down. This photo is of us cooling down on our hotel roof in Milan!

Toothpaste in a tin

■ Does anyone remember the red, blue and green Gibbs tins with solid paste for cleaning teeth? These should be reintroduced to get rid of current plastic toothpaste tubes.

Jennifer Ford, Hants ■ Every original contribution published gets a £10 High Street voucher. So keep all those letters and emails coming in.
