Thirsty wasps

YOURS (UK) - - Over To You -

I saw something in my garden recently that I’d never seen before. While topping up the bird bath I went to remove some rose petals floating in the water and spotted a wasp on one of them. It appeared to be having a drink. Was he really drinking or was I being fanciful?

Olive Parry, Coventry

Yours says: No you weren’t imagining it, Olive. We checked and apparently wasps do drink water as a source of food and energy.
