If you’re curling up with a book this festive season then the chances are it could well be a thriller. Apparently, for the first time, crime thrillers are now the nation’s favourite book genre. Agatha Christie would be delighted! New research has revealed that many Britons can’t make it through dinner at home without checking their phone.

According to a YouGov report, 55 per cent said they kept their mobiles on the dinner table at home to check for messages or take calls and 53 per cent while dining out!

Wouldn’t it be amazing if, for the Christmas Day dinner, mobiles were turned off and removed from the table? ■
