Af­ter a tem­po­rary stay in a care home, re­tired funeral di­rec­tor and Yours reader Celia Smith was adamant she wanted to live in her Lon­don home and main­tain her in­de­pen­dence. Celia has mul­ti­ple sclero­sis and needs reg­u­lar care and as­sis­tance.

“Some friends sug­gested eq­uity re­lease so I de­cided to look into it. Key were so help­ful and ar­ranged a meet­ing with one of their ad­vis­ers to dis­cuss my cir­cum­stances and find the best plan for me. I strug­gle to walk so their home vis­its were very handy.

“I was im­pressed at how stress-free the whole process was,” ex­plained Celia.

“My two chil­dren were in­volved and sup­ported me all the way. They came to the meet­ings and met with my lo­cal ad­viser be­fore I went ahead.

“It’s made a huge dif­fer­ence to my life; the money has helped pay for car­ers at home and I’ve been able to adapt my home so I can re­main liv­ing in it.” Celia Smith -
