Happy New Year! How do you feel about resolutions? They can be useful for getting yourself out of a rut, but personally I’m not a fan because all too often they’re about depriving or denying yourself something. This year I’m taking a different approach...

I’ve got a milestone birthday coming up and to mark it I’ve decided to challenge myself to try 50 new things in 2019. It could be as simple as experiencing different cuisines, visiting new places or reading books by new authors. Or I might travel to a country I’ve never visited or take up a new hobby. Big or small, it doesn’t matter; it’s about being open to opportunities to freshen things up.

And the best part is that now I’ve told all of you, I have to commit to it. I will keep you updated as the year progresses and I’d love to hear your suggestions, too, for things I should try.

Or, better still, why not set your own ‘Year To Try’ challenge and let us know how you get on? See you next issue…

A trip to Estonia could be one of my 50 things. Turn to p91 for lots more travel inspiration
