Leaf lampshade

YOURS (UK) - - Meeting Place -

✒ I enjoyed reading about making leaf lanterns on a recent crafts page. I thought readers might like to see my lampshade made from leaves. During six months working as an au pair in Jerusalem in the Sixties I was befriended by a local family. As a leaving present they asked a friend to make me a lampshade made from local leaves, flowers and seeds.

These leaves were pressed on to a piece of thin parchment, which was then covered with a thin layer of melted candlewax. When I married a couple of years later my husband turned it into this lovely stand lampshade. It brings back such happy memories. Daphne Clarke, North Yorkshire
