Giraffe delight

✒ I recently completed these giraffes from a pattern in Yours for my twin seven-year-old granddaughters. I adapted the spots, incorporating them randomly into the pattern. The girls love them and will add them to their ever-growing knitted animal collection!

Knitting helps pass the time and gives me something else to think about while I'm recovering from a badly broken ankle. I'm can’t wait for the next animal pattern challenge! Jeanne Smith, Northants

We asked in a recent Meeting Place for your stories of kindness and have been inundated with wonderful letters and emails. Please keep your stories coming… ✒ I remember my daughter needing to get home from university but when she got to the train station she realised she didn’t have enough money for the ticket. The ticket cashier offered to pay for it and we were so grateful. I sent a thank you note and cheque to cover the cost but it was never cashed.

Pamela Hill, Lincs

He only had eyes for me!

✒ Reading a recent article on seeing bands live in the Sixties reminded me of the time I went to see Emile Ford & The Checkmates in Luton when I was 15. He had just sung Slow Boat to China and we were all clapping and screaming. Suddenly the spotlight lit me up and Emile sang, What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For just to me! Was my face red! Bev Ward, Paignton, Devon

We love reading all your letters but unfortunately cannot reply to each one. They may be used here or in other Yours publications. When sending photos, please write your name and address on the back and avoid sending your only copies of precious pictures. To help us, email images should be high resolution, and prints from digital images should be on photo-quality paper.

Every original contribution published gets a £10 High Street voucher, so keep all

those letters and emails coming in.

There’s nothing like pottering

✒ I loved the recent feature, The Power of Pottering. Despite all the physical and mental health pursuits we’ve been doing during lockdown I believe the most powerful and life-changing one for me has been the joy of pottering. On my one day off from my busy NHS job I can be found delightfully decluttering or rebelliously rummaging!

As the feature said, pottering requires constant movement, meandering from one activity to the next. I’ve found the whole guilt-free joy of ‘meandering’ while achieving small benefits something I truly look forward to now. Mindfully meandering – there’s nothing quite like it in these restricted times. Karen Taylor, Dorset

Here’s to gin

✒ The other day I found this photo I’d taken of a sign in a pub. It did make me laugh. Mrs Bishop, Essex

Snow memories

✒ The photo in a recent Meeting Place of the winter of 1962/63 reminded me of when we lived on top of a hill in a caravan. Out visiting family, we returned to find snow had banked down one side of the caravan – naturally the door side! A neighbour took our six-month old son into their warm van while we dug ourselves into ours! Clare, Cheshire

Thrifty thinking!

✒ I think it is a pity to waste Christmas cards so I use them to make labels for next year’s presents and the blank sides I use for shopping lists!

Mrs Fribence, Kent

Dining around the world!

✒ My husband and I love travelling, but obviously haven’t been able to go anywhere recently. To try to cheer ourselves up, we’ve ‘dined around the world’.

We light some candles and whatever cuisine we’re eating, we ask Alexa to play the music from that country. So far we’ve ‘travelled’ to Spain, Italy, Mexico, Greece, the Middle East and India. If we’ve been to the country we chat about our memories and also plan future adventures.

It’s certainly made dining at home more interesting. I thought I would share in case other readers would like to try it.

Sharon Haston, Falkirk
