WHO’S WHO IN THE CLASS OF 2022
1 Abdul (29): The electronics engineer is a keen salsa dancer and “space nerd”. For him, baking is all about creating chemistry.
2 Carole (59): Shares her gardening knowhow on her local radio show, in a segment called ‘Compost Carole’. Her colourful bakes are inspired by horticulture.
3 Dawn (60): The grandmother-of-four is an artist with a special skill in lace patterning on biscuits.
4 James (25): The proud kilt-wearer from Glasgow is a nuclear scientist. He likes to make bakes his own, with a particular flair in “child-friendly horror”.
5 Janusz (34): Janusz grew up in Poland and now lives on the southeast coast with boyfriend, Simon, and their sausage dog. His baking style is, “cartoon-like”.
6 Kevin (33): A talented musician, Kevin likes to use the best, seasonal ingredients and surrounds himself with family and much-loved animals.
7 Maisam (18): Originally from Libya, Maisam has lived in the UK since she was nine. She spends her spare time photographing still-life.
8 Maxy (29): Mum to two daughters, Swedish-born Maxy studied fine art and began baking five years ago.
9 Rebs (23): Irish dancer Rebs likes to play around with Middle Eastern ingredients.
10 Sandro (30): Sandro fled the Angolan war with his mum when he was two. A keen boxer, he has a background in ballet and breakdancing too!
11 Syabira (32): Malaysian-born Syabira is one of seven children and loves gaming. She’s all for giving Malaysian flavour twists to British classics.
12 Will (45): The former charity director and dad-of-three loves DIY and is a fan of using yeast – and not just in bread!
