Murder On The Zinderneuf Electronic Arts

-

This detective adventure game was an ambitious attempt to introduce a random element to the genre, with each go at solving the mystery differing in many ways. Set in 1936, the attention to detail within is high, and this is reflected in the game's cover. The eponymous dirigible dominates the picture as you'd expect, with the lighting of its passenger section giving the impression that it is grimacing at the events unfolding below. A shadowy crowd is watching in grim fascination as a figure falls from the zeppelin, no doubt pushed out by the miscreant that you have to expose in the game. There's so much to admire in this excellent picture: the contrast between the airship lights and the dark sky; the classical Thirties lettering in the title; the searchlight beams that zig-zag across the sky and the Electronic Arts logo at the front of the huge flying zeppelin. It all adds up to a fantastic cover.
