Insufferable bureaucrats. Intense naval battles. Post-nuclear war autogeddon. Without any planning, it’s been a gloomy round-up of covers this issue, so it’s time to lighten the mood. Blending the anarchic comedy of Blazing Saddles with the multi-event template, Western Games presents a series of wild west themed madcap competitions. From cow-milking to arm-wrestling and spitting (yes, really!), each event is presented in a cartoon style with zany humour throughout. There are two covers to this game: the first is an overcrowded mish-mash, while the one I’ve chosen is this less cluttered image that features just one event from the game, beer shooting. A sozzled cowboy takes aim at an understandably nervous opponent, the target glass of ale perched precariously on his bonce. The watching characters are full of personality, the barman staring wide-eyed while another patron peers nervously from over the bar, shotgun quivering under his alcoholic haze; you can just tell this is not going to end well.
