Five out­door cine­mas to visit this sum­mer in Kyiv

Out­door cine­mas and drive-in movie the­aters are gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity in Kyiv. Here are some of the best ones to try out (all for free):

Kyiv’s cy­cle track

The or­ga­niz­ers want to pop­u­lar­ize the bi­cy­cle cul­ture in Ukraine and to screen movies. They choose films based on their own pref­er­ences and sug­ges­tions. Kyiv’s cy­cle track shows movies in the orig­i­nal lan­guage with sub­ti­tles. Their sec­ond screen­ing gath- ered up to 250 peo­ple. Bonus: You can bring your own food and some­thing to sit on. Or­ga­niz­ers are work­ing to launch a food court.

KMArt Yard

The pro­ject was cre­ated by grad­u­ates of Kyiv-Mo­hyla Academy. They re­con­structed a pa­tio at the academy into an art space in three months. It was opened dur­ing the cel­e­bra­tion of the 400th an­niver­sary of the univer­sity on June 27. The or­ga­niz­ers have al­ready screened the iconic sit­com “Friends” and had a Harry Pot­ter movie night.

When: The or­ga­niz­ers plan to hold cin­ema screen­ings ev­ery Mon­day

Beliye Kacheli (White Swings)

White Swings po­si­tions it­self as a lounge bar and an out­door cin­ema theater. It is lo­cated in Pushkin Park near Shu­li­avska metro sta­tion. One can try cu­cum­ber, ginger, laven­der or straw­berry drinks, cock­tails and burgers there.

Yuzh­niy bereg Kieva (South Shore of Kyiv)

This is lo­cated at the beloved for­mer An­gar beach club site. One can not only party here, but also at­tend lec­tures and cin­ema screen­ing. Starry nights and Dnipro River will cre­ate a great at­mos­phere. The movies go by decades and the next ones are from the 70s and 80s. One can send the or­ga­niz­ers sug­ges­tions for a film

Los Solo­mas

Los Solo­mas aims to unite ac­tive cit­i­zens of Kyiv’s Solomyan­sky Dis­trict. They hang the screen on a cof­fee bus and peo­ple can watch movies and sug­gest what they want to watch on the big screen. The num­ber of chairs are lim­ited, so it is bet­ter bring some­thing to sit on. Where: Solomyan­ska Square When: Ev­ery Fri­day, Satur­day and Sun­day (when it’s not rain­ing) at 9:30 p.m
