The lat­est adap­ta­tion of Au­gust Strind­berg’s 1888 play “Miss Julie” will be broad­cast live in Kyiv from the Bri­tish Na­tional Theater. Set in present-day Lon­don and re­freshed with mod­ern char­ac­ters, the adap­ta­tion aims to pre­serve the orig­i­nal’s study of power and class while mak­ing it re­lat­able to new au­di­ences. The new Julie is a spoiled and lonely daugh­ter of a rich ty­coon, who se­duces her fa­ther’s chauf­feur Jean, a black eco­nomic mi­grant. Some fa­tal con­se­quences en­sue. "Julie."
