Cy­clists hit ground to de­mand safe bike lanes

Cy­clists lie on the ground in front of Kyiv City Coun­cil as they take part in a die-in rally to de­mand safe and mod­ern road­ways and paths for cy­cling on March 14, 2019. Around 50 cy­clists came to the Kyiv City Coun­cil to take part in a die-in rally on March 14, de­mand­ing of safe and mod­ern in­fra­struc­ture for cy­cling. They lay on the ground with their bikes nearby to draw at­ten­tion to the high risk of cy­cling in Ukraine’s cap­i­tal.Kyiv has seen a mas­sive in­crease in the num­ber of pri­vate cars on its streets since Ukraine be­came in­de­pen­dent over 27 years ago, but there are few bi­cy­cle lanes or paths for cy­clists to use.
