Ram may finally come out with a competitor to Ford’s Raptor. News on the internet says that a version of the Ram Rebel TRX concept truck will go on sale as a 2021 model. Don’t remember the Rebel TRX? It was unveiled at the 2016 State Fair of Texas and featured Dodge’s supercharged, 575hp Hellcat V-8, 37-inch tires, bypass shocks, more than 13 inches of wheel travel, and a body that was some 6 inches wider than the standard Ram. Autoweek reports a Ram-fan website called 5thGenRam says the TRX—or some version of it—is on the way. The magazine didn’t want to guess about which equipment from the concept truck could make it to production, though the fan site says there will be two Hemi engines available, a 7.0L naturally aspirated V-8 and the 6.2L Hellcat V-8, likely as an option.
Why put stock in internet speculation? Remember that a similar fan site leaked all kinds of insider info on the JL version of the Wrangler prior to its introduction, and that site turned out to be administered by FCA. So Autoweek speculates this 5thGenRam site may be a similar front to spill info about the upcoming truck. Fingers crossed!
