4 Wheel & Off Road - - DRIVELINES -

Chevrolet paid so much attention to improving the functionality of the 2019 Silverado 1500’s bed that it now has its own name: Durabed. The box offers “best in class” cargo volume, box length and depth, says Chevy, and now is fitted with 12 fixed tie-downs (nine movable tie-downs are available too). Taking a shot at rival Ford, which has made much of the F-150 out of aluminum, Chevy fabricated the Durabed from a higher-grade steel with a strengthened bed floor.

Buyers of the 2019 Silverado will be able to choose from four tailgate options ranging from the basic manual gate with a key lock to a power up/down gate controlled by the key fob, a touch pad on the tailgate, or a button in the cab. The powered tailgate will be available on LTZ models and standard on High Country versions.
