Laura attempts to set things right with the man she loves — and the one she loathes

ABC Soaps In Depth - - Back In Action -

ewlywed Laura was excited to get back to her husband on GENERAL HOSPITAL… but with Ryan having taken Kevin’s place in Port Charles, it’s not shaping up to be the reunion she expected! Here, Genie Francis gives us the scoop on what fans should expect now that her iconic alter ego is back!

The Honeymoon’s Over!

To say that Laura is happy to be back in Port Charles after having spent nine months caring for Spencer in Europe would be an understatement. “She’s thrilled,” Francis grins. “She’s come home to the husband who loves her, and she’s a newlywed — she’s expecting all the good stuff!”

Unfortunately, Ryan has taken his twin brother’s place, so Kevin doesn’t quite seem himself. “Ryan’s doing a pretty darned good job of being his brother,” Francis chuckles. “So it takes a few episodes before Laura starts to notice things and starts to wonder what’s going on. He’s still sweet, but sometimes it

feels like he’s distracted — in a way that you might interpret as, ‘Oh, he’s just not that into me anymore.’”

With Ryan playing sick instead of taking Kevin’s bride straight to bed to resume their honeymoon, Laura is starting to worry that she’s the problem. “She feels guilty, because she left for such a long period of time,” Francis explains.

While Laura starts doubting herself, she has no reason to think her husband is not… well, her husband. “Laura doesn’t even know that Ryan’s alive! And she doesn’t see the darkness,” the actress adds. “If she saw that, the story would go quicker, but this is going to be a slow peeling of an onion. It’s not a hityou-in-the-face-fast story. It’s going to be slowly untangled — which is going to be much more fun!”

Putting Valentin On Notice

Laura may be feeling a bit insecure in her marriage, but she doesn’t hold back with Valentin. “She is her most aggressive self when she’s with him,” Francis says. Considering that he killed her son, Nikolas, and raised Charlotte, whom none of them knew existed, “what more can he possibly do to me after that? Nothing! So there’s a certain power in that.”

With her nemesis now settled comfortably in Port Charles, Laura makes a point of checking in with him right off the bat. “She’s just letting him know she’s back… and she’s still watching him,” says Francis. “It got pretty heated. She essentially tells him, ‘I’m going to be here, in your face, as long as you choose to be here.’”

Laura has no idea that her “husband” at the moment is as dangerous as Valentin (inset) ever was.
