ABC Soaps In Depth - - We Speak Out -

There are bigger, bolder stories going on on the canvas right now, but we really wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight on some of the lovely, relatable stuff unfolding around Elizabeth. We’ve long said that, thanks to portrayer Rebecca Herbst, Elizabeth is a darn near perfect soap heroine. She’s plucky (sometimes to the point of being feisty), has a complicated romantic past, is squarely situated between the haves and the have nots and, thanks to her position at the hospital, interacts with nearly everyone in Port Charles. Now, she’s happily anticipating her upcoming wedding even as she and Franco figure out exactly what his role is in the lives of his soon-to-be stepkids… a situation made all the more difficult by Cameron’s recent transformation from cute kid to tempestuous teen. Our only real complaint? That this household isn’t featured more regularly.

Doing so might help quell some of the criticisms aimed at the show by those who believe it’s too heavy on Corinthos family drama. Surely, we can focus on two wildly different families at the same time… right?

“Patrick and Sam? Never saw that one coming!”

“On the plus side, your kids are rarely all together at the same time. That has to make parenting easier… right?”
