Una Estrella En Ascenso
Ryan Carnes (Lucas) is still spinning from his experience starring in Mexico’s big-screen winter blockbuster, La Boda de Valentina. “Being in Mexico City for the premiere was a whirlwind,” grins the actor. “It was the first time I walked around and saw my face on billboards and bus stop signs. It was very exciting. And we’re really happy with how the movie turned out and how it did. Within the first month, it landed in the Top 10 grossing Mexican films of all time! So it’s a big success, in that sense.” The bilingual film, which saw Carnes speaking English, has also opened more doors south of the border. “I did another film down there,” he reveals. “When I went down to do some preliminary press for La Boda, I ended up reading for another Mexican production shooting there. It’s a remake of the classic French film Belle de Jour. It’s interesting, the way things are going. I get to be the ugly American in Mexican movies! Yo hablo poquito español. I actually put down an audition tape in Spanish, so I’m learning.”
Carnes is in demand all over the place!
