if you know anything about GH’s Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie), you can imagine that her holiday season is packed with delicious fare. “This Christmas, I’m looking forward to celebrating with my family, and we are foodies,” she grins. “So we cook and bake and eat to our hearts’ content!”
When it comes to making dishes, everyone pitches in — from her daughters, Cassidy and Lacey Rose, to her sonin-law, Cutter, and his family, with whom they’ve celebrated the holidays for over a decade. And leftovers are always delivered to a nearby homeless shelter. But before the big food discussions even begin, the design maven (who co-hosts TLC’s MAKE THIS PLACE YOUR HOME) starts planning. Weeks before Thanksgiving, “I’d already chosen my wrapping papers and wire ribbons for this year’s gifts,” she confesses. “I always begin my shopping early, too, because I enjoy the search for special treasures. And then I wrap everything early, so there is no peeking into the boxes! I love making everything look beautiful. We pile presents under our trees in advance and open some on Christmas Eve and some on Christmas Day.”
With Zeman’s girls all grown up and their worlds expanding, her holidays aren’t always the same now. Last year, for example, they celebrated together,
“This Christmas, I’m looking forward to celebrating with everyone,” gushes Zeman. “Family time is my favorite time, and the holidays are always a happy time for us.”
but there was a lot of traveling during the season. This year, she’s happy to report that they’ll have much more time to spend together. Whatever their schedules look like, however, there’s one thing Zeman can always count on during the season. “We put the same ornaments on our trees every Christmas,” she shares. “They are all very special, because some have been in our family for several generations, and some are handmade. When Cassidy and Lacey Rose were little girls, we collected beautiful angels to decorate our tree, and we had decorations all around our house. We don’t live in that house anymore, but the angels still grace our tree every year and I imagine they always will.
“The holiday season is my favorite time of year,” she adds. “It makes me happy to see and feel the love, joy and the spirit of giving everywhere.”
